Konica Minolta Photo Imaging, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Konica Minolta; President Tsuyoshi Miyachi) is proud to announce that its DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II 35-mm film scanner has been chosen for the European Scanner of the year 2005-2006 award of the EISA Photo Awards^*1, one of Europes most prestigious honors.

The DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II is a 35-mm film scanner that combines superb image quality with straightforward controls. It features improved color reproduction of negative film scans with high color fidelity based on a newly developed Film Expert Algorithm that integrates powerful 5,400-dpi scanning resolution with faithful color reproduction, a Quick Scan System to greatly increase the efficiency of the overall work flow, and Digital ICE^4™ (Digital ICE Quad) for sophisticated image correction.

The European Scanner of the year 2005-2006 award was presented based on high ratings for high-speed scanning, as well as sophisticated image correction that virtually eliminates the effects of scratches, dust, fading, graininess, and shadow and highlights using Digital ICE^4™, and improved dynamic range and a noteworthy reduction in noise when using the Multi-sample Scanning feature.

In April, the DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II was chosen for a similar award, the Best Film Scanner in Europe 2005 award of the TIPA Awards 2005^*2, and continues the distinction with this current award.

The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) consists of nearly 50 prominent magazines from 20 European countries in fields such as photography, video, audio and home theater. The EISA awards are presented annually to the best photographic equipment and chosen by the Photo Panel of EISA representing editor-in-chief and technical editors from these professional magazines.

The TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) European Photo & Imaging Award winners are chosen by a group of editors and technical editors representing 31 European photography and imaging magazines from 12 European countries. All are members of the TIPA, which is an independent, non-profit organization open to all European magazines in the photography publishing industry.
