Konica Minolta's Pink Ribbon

With the aim of using technology to protect as many women as possible from breast cancer, Konica Minolta developed and is offering digital phase contrast mammography (PCM) X-ray systems, which enable the early detection of breast cancer. In conjunction, the entire group supports the Pink Ribbon campaign, which raises awareness of breast cancer. So far, the group has donated PCM X-ray systems to Peking University First Hospital and Fudan University Cancer Hospital in Shanghai in China, among other activities in many places. In 2007 also, Konica Minolta carried out a variety of activities to facilitate the early detection of breast cancer, including providing special support for the Pink Ribbon Festival, an educational event concerned with early detection and early treatment of breast cancer), holding a Pink Ribbon T-Shirt Design Exhibition at the Konica Minolta Plaza (Shinjuku, Tokyo), and hanging banners supporting the Pink Ribbon campaign at Konica Minolta's Tokyo sites (Hino and Hachioji, Tokyo).

The Konica Minolta Group facilitates swift, smooth assistance by its group companies to help victims of major disasters. Various initiatives have been taken so far to deliver relief goods and money victims of various large disasters around the world, including Hurricane Katrina, which struck the U.S. in 2005, and the Pakistan Earthquake, which occurred in 2005, and the Java, Indonesia Earthquake in 2006. Employees of Konica Minolta Medical Imaging U.S.A., Inc. voluntarily initiated a fund-raising campaign for victims of Hurricane Katrina. This campaign was recognized by the American Red Cross, which later honored Konica Minolta Medical Imaging U.S.A. with an official letter of appreciation for these efforts. In 2008, Konica Minolta sent money for the relief effort after the cyclone hit Myanmar and the Sichuan Earthquake in China. Its employees also raised money for victims of these great disasters.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc., an office equipment sales company in the U.S., provided support for the International Rett Syndrome Foundation through an employee matching donation program*1. This non-profit organization (NPO) supports research into treatment methods for Rett syndrome, an incurable disease that strikes mainly girls in early childhood.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Polska s.p. zo.o., an office equipment sales company in Poland, is supporting Rainbow, an NPO that assists children with complete or partial visual impairment, and their families. The company prepared color books used in therapy for children with partial visual impairment, to help them see different and contrasting colors.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Spain S.A., an office equipment sales company, is providing donations and other support to ONCE, Spain's largest organization for helping those with visual impairments.

The employees of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd., an office equipment sales company, raised money through a charity event called Red Nose Day to help alleviate poverty in Africa, which was promoted by Comic Relief, an NPO established by comedians.

The employees of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd. also raised money in concert with a charity event called Children In Need, which was promoted by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

The employees of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd. also participated in a charity event called Jeans for Genes, whereby employees could wear jeans to work if they made a donation. The money raised went towards assisting children with genetic disorders.
Oceania

In Australia, the activities of the country's "surf lifesavers," who patrol the beaches and keep them safe for others to enjoy, is supported by volunteer members and depends on subsidies from the national government and donations. Konica Minolta Business Solutions Australia Pty. Ltd., an office equipment sales company in Australia, supports and provides donations to the local lifesaving association in Queensland.
Japan

As part of community contribution activities at Konica Minolta's Tohoku Group office, in fiscal 2005 we began providing cooperation and support to a committee promoting local earthquake and tsunami preparedness which is mainly operated by the Disaster Prevention Center at Tohoku Fukushi University. Specifically, Konica Minolta is providing support for the issuing of various manuals and handbooks on disaster prevention, cooperation in local personnel development for disaster preparation, promotion of increased disaster prevention awareness and activities among local residents, and the holding of local forums for residents.
In January 2007, the Disaster Prevention Center received the Internal Affairs and Communications Minister's Prize, as part of the 11th Annual Community Disaster Prevention Awards, which were held by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. The center was recognized for its implementation of disaster prevention learning, based on cooperation with local companies and residents.
Japan

Konica Minolta's Kansai Office has joined the 110 Child Emergency campaign promoted by the Osaka Prefectural Government to ensure the safety of children in the community. Under this campaign, the local community offers its residences, shops and offices, as well as company vehicles as shelters for children, where they can seek protection in case of any troubles such as threats of kidnapping or molestation. The Kansai Office joined the campaign in February 2008, offering approximately 210 sales vehicles in the Kansai region for participation. The campaign helps to protect children, while offering a secure environment where they can live with peace of mind.
China

In fiscal 2007, Konica Minolta Medical & Graphic (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a medical device sales company in China, provided support for a lecture series in Shanghai, called the Women's Health Forum, in order to raise awareness of health issues facing Chinese women. In addition to financial support for the event, Konica Minolta prepared various leaflets and animated presentations, in order to deepen understanding of diseases that affect women, and prevention methods, by focusing on the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
